Being curious, Shiro had managed to slip past the front door and into the mansion... but what will lie ahead for him? His footsteps echoed silently in the dark room. He could barely see his own hands ahead of him, but he was making progress. Clumsily, he stumbled along, feeling his way around. What's this? he asked mentally. It feels like... a chair. He thought correctly.
As Shiro felt around a bit more, his hands came in contact with a hard, wooden surface. A table..? Right when the thought sounded in his head, a light went on, revealing a grand dining room. Ten chairs were lined neatly along a massive oaken table, candles hanging elegantly from the ceiling. It was a hauntingly beautiful sight.

~~Amazing... such a grand dining room... ... I wonder how the candles were lit from thin air? Gas powered maybe?~~ He thought as he paced around the room once, admiring the architecture. ~~Maybe I should be more worried about who turned the lights on?~~ The thought only gave him a little chill. He was more worried about how tired he was; passing out, only to wake up infront of a mansion wasn't his idea of a good rest. Since he could now see his surroundings, he could relax a little. ~~A good nap would be nice...~~ He sat down in one of the chairs, rested his legs on the table, leaned back, and closed his eyes.

Silence.
The candles' fire flickered in the quiet air, the flames dancing vividly in the dim room. Shadows spread across the walls responded to the blazes, dimming and becoming lighter each time the flames moved to and fro. The chandelier above the massive table hung threateningly, the chain its only holder should gravity take its toll.
The room was warm, much more comfortable compared to the howling wind outside of the mansion. Of course, it was only natural for someone to fall asleep here. But... one should also take heed of what might happen. The candles continued to flicker from the top of the chandelier, shedding their light upon the otherwise dark room.
A stray droplet of fire fell down from the suspended light source. It... had eyes, which scowled as they saw the newcomer resting comfortably. Jumping down to the floor, it landed rather gracefully on the carpet. The droplet smirked wickedly as it tilted its "head" toward Shiro's chair, attempting to burn the wood leg off. After a few minutes... *snap!*

"hu--WAH!?" *thud!* He had awoken, before falling with the broken chair. "ow, ow, ow..." he muttered before rising, and dusting himself off. "I didn't think the wood had rotted... huh?" he knelt down to examine the chair, "It caught fire... how?" his examination stopped there. He rose and looked around for some water. ~~Best make sure it doesn't spread.~~

No need for that. The fire simply ate away at the oaken wood and disappeared once the chair had been consumed, leaving an array of harmless sparks drifting to the ground. A smirk spread to the fire droplet's face, as it hopped onto the table, the flames from its head flaring when it picked up speed. It tapped its "foot" on the wood, the center of the table disintegrating, while the flames made their way outwards.
The droplet gazed at his lovely creation of fire, waving its "arms" about as he danced with the blaze.

Shiro couldn't find any water, but it didn't appear too necessary anyway, ~~Ah, well... I guess I'll...~~ He faced the table and stared at the sight before him, "Well... that's the strangest fire I've ever seen." He became slightly worried, ~~At this rate, some real damage could be done to this place...~~ He examined the fire more closely, ~~It looks like it's all originating from... that... flame?~~

As if it could read his mind, the flame's eyes blinked open and scowled. It shook a fiery fist at Shiro in objection, telling him silently that it was no ordinary flame. Creepily enough, it raced across the burning table and hopped high, up onto the tapestry hanging above the dining room. The tapestry was a beautiful sight, a scene of an ancient garden from Rome. There were men and women dressed in togas, sitting together and celebrating in all their merriment. Foods and wines of all sorts were piled on trays and a frame of grape vines lined the entire scene.
Before Shiro could look closely at the tapestry, the small droplet of fire had skid across the vertical surface, hopping up and down, side to side, burning as it went, and spelling something out in charred cloth. Smoke arose from the burnt areas, as the words "I AM FIRE DEMON" appeared on the framed cloth. After a few more moments a "FEAR ME" was added.

Shiro paused, and stared at the words on the cloth. ~~'Fear me'... geez... someone is having fun with their pyrotechnics. couldn't they at least have written it in leet? This is an awfully sick joke to play on someone you don't even know. Putting that floating flame together must have been tricky, though...~~ He ended his pondering, and gave a sarcastic laugh as he turned from the cloth. ~~That's probably the end of the show in this room... I should find some way out of here before they start some more tricks... ... now which way did I come in by? It was too dark...~~ He guessed at which door to take and headed towards it. ~~'Fire demon,' yeah right!~~

The droplet's jaw dropped open as Shiro turned his back on it. It turned red with anger (or more red that it was before, considering it was a flame.) With a quick leap of its "legs," it bounded towards the door in small, but quick hops. Just as Shiro's hand almost reached the doorknob, a wall of fire sprouted from the ground, causing the boy to take a few steps back.
Gibberish was heard when the fire turned into cinders, leaving the droplet below Shiro, standing angrily. Its "eyes" were furious, and it shook its tiny fist at him, indicating in whatever language these things spoke that he should respect an "all-powerful-invincible-uber-fire demon" more.

Shiro paused for a few moments, eyeing the fist-shaking fire that stood at his feet. He simply couldn't seem to take such a tiny droplet of fire seriously. After a short stare-down, he stepped on the demon in an attempt to smother it. "It really stops getting funny when you nearly burn me," he muttered, half to himself. He was, however, now afraid to attempt at any other doors, due to the possibility of other dangerous traps. ~~Whoever is doing this is really sick.~~

The droplet's mouth opened in surprise at Shiro's audacity. It tried to run, but to no avail. The boy's foot had managed to smother the demon. It squeaked when Shiro removed his foot, coughing out a puff of smoke. As if it were a cartoon, the flame re-puffed itself, regaining its previous shape and glared daggers at Shiro.
After a few seconds, the fire demon burst into tears. Yes, tears. 'Cept these tears were of fiery cinders, not of liquid... or else the droplet would be no more. It plopped down onto the ground and sat there crying hysterically. What are you going to do?

~~What the...?~~ This took Shiro completely by surprise. ~~I-it's crying?!~~ He was a sucker for tears, and if it was alive... well, the thought made him feel even worse. After a few moments of pause, he knelt down and stared at the flame with a sorry expression on his face. "I... err... well, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to... err... are you even alive?" he ended it with a little chuckle. ~~Of course it's not alive. What is this, a game? ... but it looks so real... Someone must have put plenty of money into this... but is it even possible?~~ He was thoroughly confusing himself at this point. "Well, anyway, I'm sorry..."

The droplet looked up with fire-streaked eyes, sniffing quietly as Shiro apologized to it. It tilted its head to the side, giving him an innocent look. Aww... it actually looked kinda cute! Can you hear me..? it asked. A strange, child-like voice echoed in Shiro's head.

~~... A voice in my head? I really am going crazy, huh?~~ He stared at the cute little flame before him, "That was you, right? Yeah, I can hear you, little guy. What is it?" He couldn't help but talk to the cute little flame in front of him.

The droplet of fire blinked, his lips curving into a small smile. You can hear me? That's good! His child-like voice rang with innocence, but some awe-inspiring wisdom. With a few quick bounds, it hopped onto Shiro's shoulder, using his other limbs as small ladders to bounce off of. Sorry I attacked you... it started sheepishly. I was trying to scare you away... you don't want to be here.

"Don't want to be here...?" Shiro repeated. "Why not? What's happening here? And where is here?" He stood now, and awaited the droplet's response.

Moses walked in through the door from the kitchen and came face to face with a boy whose shoulder was on fire. Suprized, he jumped back, away from the person and the door. "Who are you?" He almost yelled. /me oh man, if this guy lives here, he'll probably be pretty mad. /me But why's the room all burnt, and why's his shoulder on fire. "What happened here?"

Shiro jumped back in just as much surprise, because he thought he was the only one here. ~~Does this kid live here?! That cat is probably a house pet, and it's most likely his! He must live here, and this room is a mess!~~ "I-I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to... that is..."

"Didn't mean to? Wha..? You did this?!" Moses yelled, looking around at the charred stuff. "Do you live here?" He asked. "Cause whatever happened don't apologize to me i just climbed in through a window, looking for the phone." He confessed.
